Celebrating 100+ Years of Excellence in Education
Thampaddai Maha Vidyalaya was established on May 1, 1923, as "Government Tamil Mixed School" with only 23 students. It was the first school in Thampaddai village.
During this period, the first proper school building was constructed, replacing the temporary hut structure used since establishment.
The school expanded its classes to include grades 1-11, offering Ordinary Level (O/L) education to students for the first time.
The school was completely destroyed by the tsunami. Education continued in temporary shelters on private land elsewhere in the village.
With government support, the school was rebuilt on new land and officially reopened with improved facilities.
The school was upgraded to include Advanced Level classes and renamed from "Government Tamil Mixed School" to "Thampaddai Maha Vidyalaya."
The school celebrated its first student gaining admission to university, marking a significant achievement in the school's history.
Thampaddai Maha Vidyalaya celebrated its 100th anniversary, marking a century of educational service to the community.
